A Philadelphia high school has banned UGG boots after kids started using them to hide contraband items (like cell phones).  Let the controversy begin…

“Seriously, if you told my child not to wear her Uggs, we would definitely have a court case here,” Kim Colucci Hritz posted on the Facebook page of The Mercury, the local newspaper, one of many posts opposing the ban. “My children do not go anywhere without their phones; too many pervs out there!! Have you read the paper lately?”

 But another mother, Adrienne Beyer, said that though she found the ban to be extreme, her 12-year-old daughter would abide by it.

 “I said to my daughter, ‘It’s a rule and we’re going to follow it,’” she said.

I totally hide my phone in my UGGs. I did it when I was in high school, and I still do it now. But really? While they’re at it, why don’t the implement school uniforms. -__-

Yeah, I’ve hidden my phone in my UGGs for years because female clothing tend to lack pockets. It’s true that you can also easily hide other things in there as well, such as drugs, etc.; however, banning UGGs is absolutely absurd because it’s not going to solve the problem they are trying to address. It is incredibly easy to hide objects in everyday clothing. Even if students were required to come to school nude, even if mandatory daily strip searches were implemented, those determined to break the rules will still find a way to smuggle in these things.

Today’s society keeps trying to change the inevitable.
